Extending the Toolkit Libraries

One of the main goals of the Lemur Toolkit is for the infrastructure to be open and supportive enough that it can easily be extended for your own use for various research and other applications.
Two of the main areas of interest for extension of the toolkit are the creation of parsers to allow automatic inclusion of different document formats into the index; and more towards the research end, the capability to extend the toolkit with new and different retrieval methods for comparison against the well-known methods already active in the toolkit.
